Synopsis :

The Copa do Nordeste (Cup of the North-East), a Brazilian football competition contested between Northeastern region teams. The tournament comprises of live 74 Brazilian top football league matches starting from 24^th Jan 2017 to 24^th May 2017

The Northeast Cup is played among 20 clubs divided into 5 groups of 4 teams each. The teams play each other within the groups for 6 rounds. The team to attain the first place in each group and the 3 best placed seconds qualify to the quarterfinals.

The quarter-final clashes are then decided by lottery. The top 4 best placed go to pot 1. The fifth best club + the 3 best seconds go to pot 2. Each team of pot 1 faces a team of pot 2 through the draw. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are played in round-robin games until the champions emerge.
